In response to the comments that the long ball was unnecessary; the pass was in response to UCLA calling a time out AFTER USC was taking a knee to run out the clock. If UCLA didn't want the game to end, then USC decided to continue playing too.

UCLA had all of its timeouts remaining and was trying to get the ball back when they called their first one after USC's first kneel down. Obviously, UCLA didn't think the game was over since they called a TO. And if they want to keep playing then USC has every right to keep pounding them. I see nothing wrong with the way USC reacted to the timeout.

You know, I'm not saying what USC did was right, but in that rivalry, UCLA should've just let the clock run out, not call a timeout. They lost, they needed to accept it. But they didn't, so Pete Carroll was like "ok, you don't want it to be over, we'll end it."

He didn't complain about Stanford, he said (correctly) "they can do whatever they want." If you can't take the heat - don't call a time out with less than a minute left in the game. Fight On!

This clip does not show the knee Barkley took on the previous play nor the timeout UCLA took after the knee. They wanted to keep playing.

The onus of class fell on UCLA's shoulders that night. Throwing a timeout with 60 seconds to go, USC has the ball and four downs - all they had to do was take a knee for two downs. But Neuheisel had to throw a timeout. Game over dude. Take your respectable 14 point loss. But no, he had to throw a timeout and signal to the Trojans, they still wanted to play. They deserved that touchdown thrown on them. It could have been against any team and they would have deserved it just the same. UCLA has shown class on other occasions, but not this time. I felt bad for the Bruin players, but their coach let them down.

What part of "offensive busts" did you not understand in my post? Why am I surprised? This is the USC education system I'm talking about.

Neuheisel chose to use his timeouts after USC was taking a knee at the end of the game. He got just what he deserved. If he ever coaches again, I bet he won't use his timeouts in a similar situation. A lesson learned..
